Test Loop Program

Test loop program is an important step required to support the geothermal loop field design.  The test loops not only will allow testing of thermal properties of the geologic formation for final sizing of the loop field, but also provide useful information for loop field construction considerations, like depth to bedrock, rock fractures, groundwater yield, and borehole stability.  The test loop program can result in a more efficient loop field design and reduce the risk during construction. Our test loop program includes:

• Test loop program planning, including well type, quantities, and locations

• Technical specifications for test loop installation and formation thermal conductivity testing

• Engaging sub-contractors to conduct the test well program

• Technical memorandum to evaluate thermal conductivity testing results, and to document test loop logs as part of contract documents for loop field construction.
